Emmanuel Ajavon is the supervisor of the Blood Donor Program and Cellular Therapy Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). Emmanuel has worked in this industry for 17 years, beginning in as a phlebotomist for New York Blood Center. During his 12 years there, he also worked as an apheresis technician, phlebotomy supervisor, trainer and instructional designer, all while attending Medgar Evers College for nursing and working for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Ajavon then moved to a senior management position at Community Blood Services in New Jersey where he oversaw all clinical operations for the organization and later became the director of Donor Services at Central Jersey Blood Center. Since assuming his position at DHMC last year, he has initiated many new innovative projects to bring more attention and awareness to the Blood Donor Program. In mid-February, in partnership with the Co-Op Food Stores, D-H will be launched a campaign to encourage people to donate platelets.
